Accompanying programme
A comprehensive accompanying program enriches our annual conference and allows you to get to know Kassel from very different perspectives. Separate registration is required for the following events outside of the conference program as part of the registration process.
Evening event on Thursday, March 19, 2027, at 7:00 PM
The evening event will feature a lively programme with an exclusive barbecue in the beautiful courtyard of the Renthof Hotel and a live rock concert in the Brüderkirche, followed by music selected by a Kassel-based DJ. In addition to the music programme, quieter areas within the Renthof invite you to relax and network.
Bunker Tour: Air Raid Shelter Tunnel - Weinbergbunker

On this tour, the Weinbergbunker will be explored, located in the former tunnels of the brewers. Built by forced laborers, it became Kassel's largest underground bunker complex, as the above-ground bunkers were no longer sufficient. The Weinbergbunker was put into operation in 1942. A year later, during the largest air raid on the city, it accommodated over 10,000 people. The tour lasts 90 minutes. Important notes: The tour is NOT wheelchair accessible. Photography is not permitted during the tour!
City Tour - Kassel Art Culture

On this city tour, you can experience the vibrant history of Kassel up close in 90 minutes and gain an overview of the many attractions of the documenta city. You will follow in the footsteps of the Brothers Grimm through the city center, marvel at impressive historical buildings, and discover numerous outdoor works from documenta that are firmly anchored in the city's landscape.
City Tour - documenta Stories

Since its inception, the art exhibition 'documenta' has shaped the landscape of Kassel. Over 20 significant artworks can be discovered along the paths through the city, such as the famous '7000 Oaks' by Joseph Beuys, the controversial 'Earth Mile' by Walter de Maria, or Kassel's unofficial landmark, 'Man Walking to the Sky' by Jonathan Borowski. Discover Kassel's artistic side on this 90-minute tour through the city.
Bunker Tour: Air Raid Shelter Structure - Reichsbahnbunker

Participation Requirements / Necessary Equipment:
All participants need to wear non-slip shoes and bring a flashlight.
Equipped with flashlights, participants will explore the labyrinth of hidden areas in the former administrative and air raid shelter of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. During this one-hour tour, you can discover underground corridors, witness accounts, and interesting facts about the topics of bombing warfare, air raid protection, and forced labor during the National Socialism era. Important notes: The tour is NOT wheelchair accessible. Photography is not permitted during the tour!

All participants need to wear non-slip shoes and bring a flashlight.
The Viktoriabunker is explored with helmets and flashlights. The historically significant underground beer and ice storage cellar was converted into a public air raid shelter during World War II. The impressive entrance structure and the gas lock lead the way past collapsed corridors through ancient vaults. Preserved original artifacts and eyewitness accounts complete the tour. The tour lasts 60 minutes. Important notes: The tour is NOT wheelchair accessible. Photography is not permitted during the tour!
Campus Tour (Historical Buildings)

Join a guided tour to discover hidden traces of Kassel's industrial history, exciting stories of transformation, and a vibrant campus that uniquely connects the past and the future through its architectural and historical features.
Tour of the SDG+Lab
Date/Time: March 18, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Participants have the option to join a public coffee talk afterward, starting at 5:00 PM, where researchers will present their work.
Meeting Point: UNI:Lokal, Wilhelmstraße 21, 34117 Kassel
The SDG+ Lab at the University of Kassel is a vibrant hub for knowledge transfer at the intersection of science and society. Located in the UNI:Lokal in downtown Kassel, it collaborates with citizens, politics, local administration, business, and civil society to develop practical solutions for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. Additionally, research topics from the university are publicly presented, displayed, and discussed at the UNI:Lokal.
The tour showcases the venue for events and exhibitions at Wilhelmstraße 21, provides insights into its use as a co-working and co-creation space, and presents results from innovative transfer formats through an ongoing exhibition.
